UB Opens $21.2 Million Earthquake Engineering Simulation Facility

Sep 24, 2004 - A new era in earthquake-engineering research was ushered in today with the grand opening of the National Science Foundation's George E. Brown Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) Facility within the University at Buffalo Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering.



12 Faculty Members, Librarian and 2 professional staff members receive 2004 SUNY Chancellor Awards for Excellence

July 30, 2004 - Fifteen employees of the University at Buffalo, including Micheal Constantinou, have received 2004 SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Excellence from State University of New York Chancellor Robert L. King.



3 UB Faculty Members Named SUNY Distinguished Professors

April 8, 2004 - Three University at Buffalo faculty members -- Philip Thomas LoVerde, Barry Smith and Tsu-Teh Soong -- have been named SUNY Distinguished Professors by the State University of New York Board of Trustees.

Jankovic Model

CSEE faculty member Igor Jankovic models contaminant transport in heterogeneous aquifer formations in order to relate statistical parameters that describe actual formations with overall plume behavior. This model consists of circular zones with hydraulic conductivity that differs from the background conductivity.
