Environmental and Hydrosystems Engineering Track (M.Eng. Civil Engineering)

Students in the M.Eng. Environmental and Hydrosystems Engineering Track work together to develop a greater understanding of the physical, chemical, and biological processes that influence the health of our environment, and use this knowledge to pursue innovative solutions for its protection. The program thrives on a strong partnership among faculty, students, and the general community. Graduates of the program are prepared for employment opportunities in (1) the development, design, and management of new and innovative treatment processes for water, wastewater, and hazardous wastes, and (2) modeling the fate and transport of contaminants and assessing their impact on environmental quality.

HIGHLIGHT

Jankovic Model

CSEE faculty member Igor Jankovic models contaminant transport in heterogeneous aquifer formations in order to relate statistical parameters that describe actual formations with overall plume behavior. This model consists of circular zones with hydraulic conductivity that differs from the background conductivity.
