Environmental Engineering

The University at Buffalo Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering is a vibrant and exciting place to earn an undergraduate engineering degree.

At the undergraduate level, we offer a B.S. in civil engineering and a B.S. in environmental engineering, both of which are ABET accredited. In addition, we offer a combined-degree B.S. (civil engineering)/MBA (master of business administration); Our department has 26 full-time faculty and nearly 400 undergraduates. Typically, the department awards about 60 to 70 B.S. degrees annually.

Engineering class sizes may range from several hundred for the required freshman and sophomore courses taken by all engineering students, to as few as ten for junior and senior technical electives. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences offers a variety of tutoring and mentoring programs to help freshman engineering students succeed.

As a student in our department, you will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as the ASCE-sponsored Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe (yes, concrete!) competitions, and the Water Environment Federation Student Design Contest. These are national competitions that our students regularly participate in and sometimes win!

At UB, you will receive an academically rigorous and high quality education at an affordable cost. The total cost for a full-time undergraduate student at UB is approximately $15,000, with many opportunities for financial aid. The combination of educational quality and affordability make UB an exceptional educational value.
